Artist Talk - Witness: The Artist's Response

  • Elephant Room Gallery

Anitra Frazier, Levi Yutuc, Mark Nelson, Brian Dovie Golden,Tyesha Moores, Kristin Cass, Melissa Romeo, Michael Foster, Jennifer Cronin and I will be discussing our work in the Witness: The Artist's Response show.  You will have an opportunity to ask us about our art in the Q&A session following the talk.

Space is limited so be sure to arrive 20-30 minutes early to get a seat. There will be limited additional standing room. In order to raise more funds for all of the artist's charities, we are asking for a $3 donation for the talk. The funds will be added to the donations from opening night and will be split up amongst all of the charities chosen by the artists. More information is available in the gallery.

Witness: The Artist's Response is a group exhibition of artwork relating to current political, cultural and social constructs. The gallery put out an open call and encouraged artists to submit work that personally responds to the present climate as it relates to the past, present or future. With this exhibition, we want to provide a platform for artists to be heard and make a difference. That is why each artist has chosen a non-profit to pair up with and 10% of the sales of their artwork will be donated to that organization.

BIG Small Works Art Show

Chicago, Il - Elephant Room Gallery is proud to present their 1st BIG Small Works Art Exhibition featuring over 30 emerging artists from all over the nation. The gallery has focused on mainly Chicago-based artists since their inception in 2009 but is excited to begin working with artists from all over in order to create a broader dialogue in the Chicago art scene.

The exhibition features artwork that is 30x30 and smaller and includes painting, photography, mixed media and sculpture. After putting out a national call for artists, the gallery had a tough job of choosing works out of many strong submissions. “The response to the call got me very excited as they were so many great submissions. Even for those who did not get selected, we have made great new contacts for future group shows. We’d love to make this an annual exhibition and our Bridgeport gallery is the perfect venue for it.” - Kimberly Atwood, Director of Elephant Room Gallery.

The BIG Small Works Show brings together some Elephant Room Gallery alumni artists as well as new artists. The resulting exhibition will be an exciting mix and will allow for some great networking opportunities and community building for the duration of the exhibit.

e exhibition opens on Friday, November 11th with a reception from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and runs through the holidays. Elephant Room Gallery’s Bridgeport location is at 2727 S Mary St. in Chicago. All works will be available for purchase and guests may take their artwork home at the time of purchase in order to allow for successful holiday gift giving.
